Artmore Hotel Announces New General Manager, Jeff McLaughlin
Atlanta, GA - The Artmore Hotel is pleased to announce Jeff McLaughlin as the new General Manager. Jeff comes to the Artmore from Lake Lanier Island Resorts and has over 30 years experience in the industry with Marriott, Renaissance and Kessler hotels.
A native of Kailua, Hawaii and a University of Denver graduate, McLaughlin began his career in hotels working as a front desk agent. After spending majority of his career traveling the country while working with Marriott, McLaughlin has been in Atlanta since 2000 at hotels such as the Renaissance PineIsle Resort and as General Manager of Renaissance Downtown Atlanta, now known as the Melia.

“Life’s Link and Other Projects: A Talk by Fred Wilson, 2012 deFINE Art Honoree,” SCAD Atlanta.
The world’s renowned conceptual artist Fred Wilson is coming to SCAD, Atlanta on February 22, 2012. DeFINE ART 2012 will honor Fred Wilson for his work and influence on contemporary art. Wilson will discuss his overall practice and approach to both his museum installations as well as individual artworks.
Wilson’s installations and large-scale singular works are subjected around social justice of African Americans. His approach is to examine, question, and deconstruct the traditional display of art and artifacts in museums. With the use of new wall labels, sounds, lighting, and non-traditional pairings of objects, he leads viewers to recognize that changes in context create changes in meaning.
He will also touch on the process of producing his original exhibition with works from the Walter O. Evans Collection of African American Art at the SCAD Museum of Art.

The Artmore was pleased to host the closing night party of the Atlanta Film Festival on Friday April 23rd. The Artmore was packed with 300 film-makers, journalists, critics, and fans alike, all here to celebrate the Art of Film. The Film Festival culminated on Friday with the unveiling of a new film about the band, the Drive by Truckers entitled “The Secret to a Happy Ending”. The Artmore was also honored to host the Drive by Truckers for the evening as well.
