Battle of the Bands

Attention music enthusiasts! There are only nine days to go until the biggest marching band event in the nation! Yes, the Honda Battle of the Bands Invitational Showcase is back in Atlanta next Saturday, January 26 at the Georgia Dome. This year, 8 marching bands from Albany State, Alcorn State, Bethune-Cookman, Edward Waters College, Jackson State, North Carolina A&T, Tennessee State, and Winston-Salem State will be showcasing their unique talent and style for all to see.

Usually these performers are the halftime show, but there is a special treat in store for the Battle of the Bands’ halftime. R&B superstar, Brandy will be performing live during the event fresh after the release of her new album, Two Eleven, featuring the hit single, Put It Down. This showcase will indeed be the event of the year.

Turn the Battle of the Bands event into a memorable weekend at the Artmore Hotel in midtown Atlanta, close to all of the action. We are less than 15 minutes from the Georgia Dome. We are conveniently located next to the MARTA-Arts Center Station, a few short stops from the Dome. Awesome bands…Vibrant boutique midtown hotel – a great combination.

CHEERSPORT

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN CHEER?  We will see which squad has the hottest cheers, dances, tumbles and more at this year’s Cheersport competition. That’s right Atlanta! The world’s largest cheerleading competition is coming back to Atlanta and will take place at the Georgia World Congress Center February 15 through 17, 2013. With only 33 days to go, the GWWC will be filled with more than 1,000 cheerleading squads from all over the nation.

Downtown Atlanta will come alive with activities and special events to celebrate the occasion. Being the host city, Atlanta will be filled with Cheersport banners hanging on light posts and billboards highlighting the most outstanding events of the day.  As you may already suspect, hotels and restaurants will be packed with cheerleaders, their families, and supporters. Still need hotel accommodations? Spend your weekend at The Artmore Hotel and be surrounded by the best cultural attractions the city of Atlanta has to offer.

If you are interested in exploring modern art, visit the High Museum of Art located within walking distance of the Artmore! Perhaps you’d enjoy some shopping and fine dining in Atlantic Station… No Worries! Free shuttle service leaves regularly to and from the Artmore Hotel’s immediate area. Our Courtyard is the perfect place for Cheersport friends and family to wind down after a long day of excitement. A brand new club called Gatsby’s is putting on a “Masquerade Ball” for New Year’s Eve this year. They are encouraging everyone to dress and awarding the best costume $300.  Since prohobition is the theme of this new club, rip out your flapper dress for the new year!

Prefer something a little more low-key? How about heading to Marlow’s Tavern: “starters including Maine lobster and shrimp chowder or the winter tavern salad. The main plate is a grilled veal chop with Canadian milk-fed veal, harvest vegetable and lump crab hash, dried cranberry, beurre blanc, asparagus and cranberry veal demi. The meal is sweetened up with chocolate crème brûlée for dessert.

The meal is $37 per person and is available throughout the evening.”

Visit their website for more information: http://www.marlowstavern.com/.

This is an interesting concept from Halo Lounge: celebrate not by watching the ball drop, instead celebrate by watching money drop….   From what I understand they are dropping $2k from the ceiling and guests will grab as much as they can.  The Ochoa Family is probably hoping you’ll buy another round ;-).

Looking for something specific? Our friendly staff we be delighted to find you exactly what you are looking for!
